OPEN PLAY | OPEN CANVAS

______________

PARIS, FRANCE

June 29 - July 12, 2026

Led by Justine, Katie & Emmanuelle

Join us in Paris for a two-week intensive in acting and performance-making as we bring together training in play, games & clown, vocal & musical exploration, neutral mask, and Lecoq-based movement work.

                                                        _________________________

We'll explore the actor's pleasure in playing, and what brings each actor uniquely to life on stage, and we'll investigate the principles of play that sit at the heart of the theatrical event and give life to the comic world.

Through physical training based in play, games, clown, neutral mask, and the pedagogies of Jacques Lecoq – alongside vocal training based in Roy Hart, Linklater, CircleSinging, Sound Painting, vocal improvisation and musical exploration -- we'll investigate how the body, voice, imagination and playful spirit of the performer work in unison to bring feeling, character, story and worlds to life on stage.

We'll look at how the essential elements of play -- presence, pleasure, appetite, impulse, rhythm, repetition, timing, stakes, scale, stillness, attack, and more -- are carried in both the voice and body, and can be tools for resonant storytelling. Through a series of guided improvisations and compositional exercises (solo and in groups) -- we'll see how the actor-creator moves their playful investigations into action and creation.

Called OPEN CANVAS, these explorations will enlarge the actor-creator's sense of presence and play, and encourage them to meet the audience as partners in play and in creation. As each performer builds their capacity to play sensitively and valiantly, and as they build a confidence in their playful impulses -- exciting, and seemingly endless, theatrical possibilities emerge on stage.

The encounter of these three pedagogies will ignite new perspectives and creative frictions, and empower artists to bring their skills and discoveries to all manner of theatrical styles and worlds.

Tuition for the two-week program is sliding scale | 1200 - 1500 euro

Early Bird Pricing: 1100 euro if you register by April 1

There will be partial and full training scholarships available for global majority and disabled artists / artists who may experience barriers to training and performance opportunities, please inquire if interested.

CLOWN & VOICE

_________________

NYC - FULL

January 23, 24, 25, 2026

Led by Katie and Justine

This session brings the playful impulses of the body (discovered through the clown) together with our capacities for vocal play and musical exploration -- to find greater freedom and resonance, and to explore the potential for harmony & cacophony on stage, at any moment.

______________________

Moving between exercises based in clown, games, play, vocal/musical improvisation and physical exploration, we'll work to peel back those pesky, extra layers of effort, holding and conditioning, and instead, encourage the softness, allowance and gleeful pandemonium that clown & vocal play invite.

In this unique workshop that brings clown and vocal/musical training together, we’ll discover how our most playful, expressive self – the clown - may dwell within the most surprising and uncomfortable of spaces – delving into the cracks, breaks and crevices in our voices, our bodies and in ourselves to let our little light shine through!

Tuition is $250 - $350, sliding scale.

Beginning with generative exercises through the lens of play, games, clown, vocal & physical improvisation, songs, song creation, we’ll support you (or your duo, trio) in shaping this raw material into a harmonious and cacophonous masterpiece -

Bring the seed of a really good/bad idea, or use our first session to begin a playful discovery into what you want to explore.

Join for all three sessions, and we’ll work together to deepen your questions and curiosities - using the world of play, clown, voice, and musicality to further your creative vision.

The series includes three intensive weekend sessions (two in NYC and one hosted by our friend Rose in her glorious studio in Woodstock, NY), along with one virtual session to support your progress. This is a unique opportunity to bring clown and voice training together, and to see how your playful nature and impulses move into creation.

Trade your seasonal depression, Netflix binge, and winter quilting project for generating and creating with a cohort of like-minded idiots, and emerge this Spring/Summer with the bud of a bright, beautiful show!

Tuition is $250 - $350 / per weekend, sliding scale or $850 - $1150  for all 3 weekends
