Over this intensive weekend, we’ll work to peel back those pesky, extra layers of effort, holding and conditioning, and instead, encourage the softness, allowance and gleeful pandemonium that clown & vocal play invite.

Moving between exercises based in clown, games, play, vocal/musical improvisation and physical exploration, we’ll discover and develop the core capacities that rest at the heart of both the comic and vocal/musical worlds -- rhythm, timing, attack, modulation, repetition, lyricism, structure, tension/release, improvisation, fun, flow, surprise, and the potential for harmony & cacophony at any moment on stage.

In this unique workshop that brings clown and vocal/musical training together, we’ll discover how our most playful, expressive self – the clown - may dwell within the most
surprising and uncomfortable of spaces – delving into the cracks, breaks and crevices in our voices, our bodies and in ourselves to let the light shine through!

Tuition is $250 - $350, sliding scale.

Beginning with generative exercises through the lens of games, clown, vocal & physical improvisation, songs, song creation, and play, we’ll support you (or your duo, trio) in shaping this raw
material into a wee show!

Bring the seed of something already in the works, or use our first session to begin a playful discovery into what you might like to create!

Join for all three sessions, and we’ll work together to deepen and further your creative questions and
curiosities - using the world of play, clown, voice, and musicality to amplify your vision.

The series includes three intensive weekend sessions (two in NYC and one hosted by our friend Rose in
her glorious studio in Woodstock, NY), along with one virtual session to support your creative progress.

This is a unique opportunity to bring clown and voice training together - to explore the rhythm, timing, dynamics, lyricism, and musicality of the comic world - and to see how you might bring your playful nature and impulses more fully into creation.

Trade your seasonal depression, Netflix binge, and winter quilting project for generating and creating with a cohort of like-minded idiots, and emerge this Spring/Summer with the bud of a bright, beautiful show!

Tuition is $250 - $350 / per weekend, sliding scale or $850 - $1150 / for all 3 weekends plus a group creative coaching session in between in-person work sessions.

PARIS, FRANCE

June 29 - July 12, 2026

Led by Justine, Katie & Emmanuelle

Join us in Paris for a two-week intensive in acting and performance-making as we bring together training in - play, games, & clown, vocal & musical exploration, neutral mask, and physical investigation.                                                                      ______________________

We'll explore the actor's pleasure in playing, and what brings each actor uniquely to life on stage, and we'll investigate the principles of play that sit at the heart of the theatrical event and give life to the comic world. We begin with a deep dive into the essential elements of play -- looking at how presence, pleasure, appetite, impulse, rhythm, resonance, repetition, timing, stakes, scale, stillness, attack, and more, are embodied and expressed in the voice and body.

Through training based in play, games, clown and Lecoq-inspired movement work alongside vocal improvisation, musical exploration, circle singing, and sounding, we'll investigate how the voice, body, imagination and playful spirit of the actor may work in unison to fully inhabit and reveal character, emotional life, stories and worlds on stage.

Bringing our playful impulses into creation -- we'll then move through a series of guided improvisations and compositional exercises (solo and in groups).

These OPEN PLAY sessions will call upon actor-creators to enlarge their sense of presence and play, and to enlist both their collaborators and the audience as partners in play.

As each performer builds their capacity to play sensitively and valiantly in the present moment and in dynamic relationship to fellow actors and audience, limitless theatrical possibilities open on stage -- inviting moments of harmony and cacophony, disaster and discovery.

Participants will emerge from this workshop more connected to and with a renewed confidence in their innate sense of fun and pleasure on stage, and with insights and tools to meet a myriad of performance opportunities and challenges, and to thrive in all manner of theatrical styles and worlds.

Tuition for the two-week program is sliding scale | 1200 - 1500 euro
